Grendon Lake and Scotland Pond


These two lakes are located immediately adjacent to each other and are found within the historic parkland to the north of Castle Ashby House. The Lakes cover approximately 16 acres. Scotland Pond is a general mixed fishery with many species from small gudgeon and roach to large bream, tench and carp. Grendon Lake is the home of the larger fish with up to 25lb carp being caught in the warmer months.

Menagerie Pond


Menagerie Pond which extends to 4.7 acres is situated within the Capability Brown parkland and located to the east of Castle Ashby House.

The pond was opened as a carp fishery during 1983, and is stocked with mirror and common carp up to 9.5 Kg (21lbs), pike 11.3 Kg (25lbs) and roach, rudd and chubb are also present.

Fishing is by Season Ticket only and limited to 40 places.  The Menagerie Syndicate runs from 16th June to 31st May each year and applications are on a first come, first served basis.
